Introducing Creator-Shared Resale: Where Every Resale Rewards the Artist

Today we're launching resale that actually gives back. When a ticket is resold on Fair Tickets, creators earn a share of the revenue—aligning incentives across the entire ecosystem.

A New Approach to Ticket Resale

Plans change. Life happens. Sometimes you can't make it to an event you were excited about. You should be able to resell your ticket—and when you do, the people who made the event possible should benefit too.

Today, we're introducing Creator-Shared Resale, a feature that gives creators a meaningful cut every time their tickets change hands.

How It Works

One Simple Fee

When a ticket is resold on Fair Tickets, we charge a single 15% fee on the transaction. That's it—no hidden charges, no service fees, no processing fees stacked on top. Just one transparent number.

Here's how that 15% breaks down:

  • 70% goes to the creator — the artist, promoter, or event organizer who made the event happen

  • 30% goes to Fair Tickets — covering platform operations, verification, and buyer protection
  • For a ticket resold at $100, that means $10.50 flows back to the creator and $4.50 keeps the platform running. The seller receives $85.

    Why This Matters

On traditional resale platforms, creators get nothing when their tickets are resold. Scalpers pocket the markup, platforms take their cut, and the people who actually made the event happen are left out entirely.

We think that's broken. Creator-Shared Resale fixes it by making every secondary transaction a moment where the creator is rewarded.

    Automatic Verification

    When you list a ticket:

  • We verify you actually own it

  • We confirm the event details

  • The 15% fee is clearly shown before you list

  • Your ticket goes live in our verified marketplace
  • Buyer Protection

Buyers get the same guarantees on resale tickets as primary:

  • Every ticket is verified

  • Full refund if the ticket doesn't work

  • Customer support before and after the event
  • Why Revenue Sharing?

The secondary ticket market generates billions of dollars a year. Historically, none of that has gone back to the people who create the experiences fans are paying for.

"When a fan resells a ticket at a profit, that profit exists because an artist created something worth seeing. They should share in that value." — Fair Tickets Team

    The Data Supports This

We surveyed 10,000 fans about resale:

  • 91% believe creators should earn a share of resale revenue

  • 76% have been priced out of events by scalpers on other platforms

  • 92% prefer verified resale to anonymous secondary markets
  • What This Means for Creators

Creator-Shared Resale turns the secondary market from a leak into a revenue stream:

  • Passive revenue: Earn from every resale without lifting a finger

  • Aligned incentives: The more in-demand your event, the more you earn from secondary sales

  • Full transparency: Real-time dashboards show exactly what you've earned from resale
  • Launch Partners

We're thrilled to launch Creator-Shared Resale with support from:

  • 50+ venues nationwide

  • Major artist management companies

  • Fan advocacy organizations
  • What's Next

This is just the beginning. Future updates will include:

  • Waitlist integration for sold-out shows

  • Direct artist-to-fan resale channels

  • Enhanced fraud detection
